JOB PURPOSE

The Night Auditor is responsible for reconciling and balancing the day’s charges in addition to providing attentive, courteous and efficient service to all guests with the goal of providing excellent customer satisfaction during check-in, throughout their stay and at checkout.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

• Greet every guest with a smile and maintain eye contact.
• Post any charges that remain following the second shift.  Post room and tax for each occupied room.
• Identify and resolve any room discrepancies.
• Reconcile all revenues and charges that have been posted since the prior Night Audit.
• Maintain presence at the Front Desk at all times during the night.
• Reset the computer management system for the next business day.
• Handle all aspects of guest check-ins and guest check-outs as defined by the property standards.
• Answer incoming telephone calls, transfer calls to the appropriate department or transmit messages.
• Responsible for cash handling, posting charges to guest rooms, verifying credit cards and balancing bank at the end of the shift.
• Take, confirm or change reservations as needed within guidelines established by the property management.
• Be available and ready to provide customer service including, but not limited to:  information about the property, assistance with luggage or other personal effects, assistance with directions, restaurant recommendations, sightseeing places and local events.
• Upsell guests, as required.
• Promote and sell hotel services and amenities.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag when working.
• Establish and maintain good communications and team work with fellow employees and other departments within the hotel.
• Ensure the proper signature upon delivery of all incoming packages.
• Review Front Desk Log Book and whiteboard daily.
• Use proper two-way radio etiquette at all times while communicating with other employees.
• Be able to complete shift reports including call arounds, bucket checks, folio balances, etc.
• Maintain proper operation of all aspects of our Property Management System.
• Understand all fire/safety procedures and provide necessary assistance to guests and employee in the event of an emergency.
• Monitor our night shift security guard.
• Perform any other duty or function that may be required.

 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

• Must be able to work a flexible over night schedule.
• Previous front desk experience is required.
• Must have basic mathematical skills.
• Must be able to clearly convey information verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to evaluate and act quickly and accurately.
• Must be able to input information accurately using a computer management system.
• Must be able to listen.
• Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
• Must have a positive attitude.
• Must be to able work well independently and within a team.
• Must have organizational and customer service skills.
• Must be able to multi-task.
